SAU #29 NAMES DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
Superintendent Robert Malay is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Matte of Keene will be joining SAU #29 as Director of Student Services. Dr. Matte brings nearly twenty years of experience in the field, having served as a school psychologist and special education administrator before becoming Director of Student Services for the ConVal district in 2011.
Dr. Matte was nominated to the SAU #29 Board, which includes representation from all seven school districts (Harrisville, Keene, Marlborough, Marlow, Nelson, and Westmoreland), who unanimously approved his hiring. This followed a multi-step process which included having finalists complete and present a related task that ultimately narrowed the field from eleven applicants over the last several months.
In this position, Dr. Matte will be responsible for all aspects of planning, budget, grant writing, staff management, program and consultative aspects of the Student Services department, as well as seeing to the application of state and federal special education law.
Malay commented, "We are excited to bring Dr. Matte on board for all of our districts to benefit from his experience. Rick will help lead the charge in determining how we can better serve our students.” Matte, who will begin his tenure on May 1, 2017, added “I am thrilled to begin working with the team at SAU #29. I love living in this area and serving this community is a privilege.”
